Well done to everyone that competed on Saturday at the
Southern Cross Country Champs @ Parliament Hill. Although we were only able to
get 11 athletes out, the team performed extremely well.
In the team event we finish in a creditable 4th place,
with some good personal performances from the lads.
The results were as follows:
Dave Taylor 6th
Joe Mills 41st
Spencer Newport 51st
Jaime Atkinson 70th
Alex Gibbons 114th
Richard Daniels 140th
Ciaran Osborn 197th
Geoff Rickerby 342nd
Graham Coates 511th
Chris Pike 601st
Richard Hall 616th
Due to injury, illness and other racing commitments the
team was slightly on the light side on Saturday, but with most of our big guns
due to return for the National Cross Country in 3 weeks time we should figure
well in the team event.
I look forward to seeing you all at the National on
Saturday 19th February and will obviously be sending out all the details for the
weekend within the next few days.
Thanks once again to all those that competed on Saturday
Regards
Nick
Hello
Here are the results from the weekend. Well done again
Jennie, you ran really well, I wish I could!!
U/20 GIRLS 5K
26 ELLA FISHER 23.18
40 RACHEL CHADWICK 25.08
Ella Fisher continued to show good form crossing the line
in 26th place. There was a very credible effort from Rachel, who has only
recently turned to XC. Unfortunately only having two runners meant they missed
out on the team position. Well done to both girls.
SENIOR WOMEN 8K
9 JENNIE BUTLER 34.27
94 MIRANDA PORRITT 39.28
128 KATE PRATTEN 41.30
138 ANNIE MCDONOUGH 41.43
173 CLARE LODWIG 43.28
223 ANNE CILLIA 45.55
225 CAROLYNA JONES-BALDOCK 46.01
15 TEAM OVERALL
1ST KENT TEAM HOME
Fortunately the rain held off for the Southerns on
Saturday and after a surprise start it was a predictably boggy course.( the
usual 5 min warning has been shortened to 3min, leaving most of the ladies
chatting on the start line!) Jennie was up with the leaders and after the first
lap was 14th. She managed to pick her way through to finish an excellent run in
9th place. Miranda was next home with a strong run to finish well in the top
100. Kate, having caused a pile up after dropping her specs, continued without
them to finish in 128th, hotly pursued by Annie, who was fourth to score. Anne
left her comfort zone to pip Carolyna on the second lap and finish just ahead of
her.
Well done to everyone, for racing well, not falling over
and finishing in one piece. Roll on the Nationals.
See you all there
Kate
