22/23 September 2012 - 24 hour race at Tooting Bec

John E Turner ran his 5th 24hr race at Tooting Bec on Saturday/Sunday. With no specific training he ran a very respectable 91.25 miles and picked up the 1st Male 60 Trophy. A really terrific effort.

22/23 September 2012 - SEAA Road Relays, Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot

A great effort from the team which ran yesterday in some truly awful conditions – everyone gave 100%! A really good senior debut from Georges who I am sure we will be seeing much more of in our teams in the future, and a solid leg from new member Sam Proctor who we welcome to the squad.

We were yesterday ultimately lacking a lot of the quality which we have in abundance but for a combination of reasons were unable to field & as a result the team finished in 43rd position, well out of the qualification places for the National Road Relays in October. This is a disappointing & frustrating result & one that is really not good enough for a club like Blackheath & Bromley Harriers; with the athletes we have we are capable of much much better!

The English National Cross Country Relays are being held on 3rd November 2012 in Mansfield & we’d love to bounce back strongly from yesterday’s poor result by fielding 2 or 3 strong teams here – our A team have won 2 silver medals in the last 3 years in this event & with everyone available we can defiantly repeat this SO please save the date & try to make yourself available for these! We will be back in contact with more details about the XC relays & to collect names of those wanting to race in due course.

Sunday’s result were as follows:
1) Peter Tucker 19:53
2) Danny Brewer 20:55
3) Sam Proctor 21:42
4) Alex Gibbins 20:05
5) Georges Vacharopoulos 21:37
6) Richard Daniel 23:19

43rd Position 2:07:31

1 April 2012 - Paddock Wood Half-Marathon

Here are a few of the club's runners at yesterday's Paddock Wood Half. Perfect conditions for spectators and runners- as witnessed by the crop of PBs set, some knocking big chunks off previous bests. A great day out!  Jackie M

Some photos from Johnny Oliver - John recently moved from Keston and now lives in Paddock wood!

Just to let you know there were big problems with chip times at the Paddock Wood half today. I managed to knock over 5 minutes off my PB, recording 1hr 29 minutes and 10 seconds on my Garmin set before I crossed the start line and stopped after I crossed the finish. Over 600 runners have no time and strangely I thought as I crossed the line it would just be my luck not to have my time recorded. It was a great day and such a shame it happened to so many people, as so many got PBs today. Is it possible to update the site results with my time? I have the Garmin evidence if required!

Thanks
Lisa Page

25 March 2012 - Les Witton 10 at Dartford

Peter Tucker, of Blackheath and Bromley Harriers, won the postponed Les Witton 10 mile road race in Dartford with a time of 57mins 52sec.

Only four men beat the hour and the pace set by Tucker, a Metropolitan policeman based in Lewisham, was closely challenged by unattached athlete Simon Roost (58.15), Mark Penny (58.36) of Cambridge Harriers and Stephen Dipre (M45, 59.23) of New Eltham Joggers.

Rosie Ferguson (72.37) of Blackheath and Bromley was the leading W45 master.
