Hi Guys
Many thanks to all those that competed on Saturday at the
National Cross Country Championships in Birmingham. Yet again it was another
fantastic weekend with some great personal performances. Due to injuries and
illness we were missing some of superstars which left us slightly on the weak
side in the team event. But taking all this into account the team performed
extremely well.
The Senior Men's results were:
26 Andrew Rayner
145 Jaime Atkinson
152 Ant Draper
236 Alex Gibbins
242 Peter Tucker
280 John Thorpe
296 Roy Smith
479 Geoff Rickerby
707 Con Griffin
902 Richard Hall
The Junior Men's results were:
91 R Perkins
110 C Daniel
120 D Griffin
126 D Ryan
In the Senior race the 6 to score team finished in 15th
place and the 9 to score team finished in 12th place. In the Junior race the
team finished in 15th place Lads, you are all equally great and I am proud to be
associated with such a great team.
I know I say this same comment every time I post a results
page but with many of our younger guys performing as well as they did at the
weekend it will come that day again, when everyone gets to the start line
together we WILL smash all the other clubs in the country. I am so looking
forward to that!!!!!!!!
I must say a massive thanks to all the supporters that
were there on Saturday. Once again the weekend was a complete success and
enjoyed by everyone!!
Get yourself super fit and be ready for the 12 stage in
April!!
Take care
Regards
Nick
Hello.
once again the results.

The Nationals were at a new venue this year on an
excellent course at Cofton Park. With weather forecasts for snow, we were let
off lightly with near zero temperature, bright sunshine, and a wind chill factor
of something that felt around the -10 mark.
We had our biggest ever turn out from the senior ladies
with 8 on the start line. We were smack in the middle of the starting pens and a
gentle downhill slope made a good fast start. A small incline and several
corners later the field had spread out.
Although Jennie had hoped for better, she was still our
fastest and first home in 38th. Keeping up with recent good performances Bridget
was second home after struggling around the second lap to finish 158. Kate
pulled rank and overtook Bella on the first lap and ran her socks off to finish
in 183 (this will probably be the only time Kate will finish ahead of Bella!) At
226 Bella finished halfway through the field and discovered the hard way why so
few do x country! With our top 4 in the first half we were 19th team home, and
second Kent team. Clare, Annie and Carolyna went for mob tactics and all
finished within 12 places of each other. Once again Anne Cillia didn't
disappoint her supporters streaming past a string of competitors along the
finishing straight with a superb sprint finish!
It was a successful day and well done to all those who
finished, it is hard work as well we know. No slacking just yet though, the road
relay are in a months time so keep up the good work.
Kate
