Chris Ellis - (29/9/43) Part of the field
events engine room which helped take the Club from the Southern League
to Division One of the British League in successive seasons. Chris was a
decathlete in his younger days before concentrating on the throws, in
particular the discus. His best was actually achieved at the age of 43
when he threw a best of 49.30 to end rival John Hillier's sequence of
Kent Championship victories. Chris is another qualified physiotherapist
with discounts for Club members! |

Paul Featherston - (30/4/63) Paul has
competed many times for the British League team but with family
commitments is now not training seriously for his main event the 400
metres. Instead he has spent the 2000 track season competing in the
Southern League Division Five team and was one of regulars who helped
them remain unbeaten all season, taking part in such diverse events as
the 400 hurdles, pole vault and javelin. |

Paul Fisher - Paul made his international
debut last year after placing 3rd in the AAAs indoor 800 metres. He was
also one of the top under 23s in the country last year with a time of
1.49.49. Unfortunately a virus meant Paul was forced to miss much of the
2000 season limiting him to one League and one Cup match. |

Bill Foster - Bill started as a 800/1500
metre man but has now gone on to represent Great Britain in the
marathon. His personal bests include 1500 - 3.44.9;5000 - 13.59.29; 10km
- 29.14.34; half marathon - 63.50; marathon - 2.15.49. Bill is the
Club's most consistent Marathon runner having gone under the 2.20
barrier on 8 occasions. Now a veteran Bill has begun a systematic
revision of the Clubs over 40s records. |

Steve Gascoigne - (20/12/66) Joint Club
record holder in the pole vault having cleared 4.70 in 1988. Steve has
also competed in most other field events for the Club and has even tried
his hand at the 110 hurdles. Made a Vice-President for his services to
the Club both as an athlete and a team manager. |

Joseph Godsell - (27/10/83) Hailing from a
family of talented athletes, Joseph is developing into a classy 800
metre runner winning a silver medal at the AAA's under 17s championships
at Sheffield. Likely to be seen on the road and the country during the
winter months. |

Julian Golding - (see

have to say about Julian. Commonwealth Games 200 metre
champion and third fastest Briton of all time behind John Regis and
Linford Christie. Julian also took bronze at the 1998 European
Championships and was part of the winning 4x100 metre teams at the
European Championships, World Cup and Commonwealth Games. He won his
first AAAs senior title in 1999 before reaching the final of the World
Championship 200 metres. Julians Olympic hopes took a blow when he
failed to qualify for a place in the 200 final at the Trials in August.
A viral complaint was diagnosed. Despite this loss of form the selectors
kept faith with an athlete who has served them so well in recent years
and selected him for the 4x100 squad subject to fitness. A former
Blackheath junior captain and Club member since 1992. National Ranking

Dwayne Grant - Dwayne made an explosive
start to the year 2000 track season setting bests of 10.6 and 21.5 for
the 100 and 200 metres and has now represented the Great Britain junior
team. He finished 3rd in the 100 and 200 at the AAA's under 20
Championships at Bedford in August, a meeting which doubled as the
Trials for the World Junior Championships in Santiago. He was ranked 6th
in the country at junior level at 200 last year with 21.7 and 11th at
the 100 metres with 10.76. This year he features in the senior rankings
as well. He still holds the Club under 13 boys long jump record with
