3 December 2022 - Kent Masters - Central Park Dartford

Full results here...

A cold grey day greeted the Blackheath & Bromley Harriers team to Dartford for the annual Kent Masters Cross Country. A number of injuries and seasonal illnesses affected the number of members competing, but it was still a strong showing in a number of races. The Club's fantastic record in the M60 category continues, this time with both the winner, Roger Beswick (20.18) and the 1st team - Roger plus Steve Pairman (9th - 22.52) and Luigi Acuri (15th - 24.33). Roger took an early lead and held it throughout the race winning by 14 seconds, finishing 3rd in the overall combined race for women's and men over 60. The M60 team won by 9 points - well done! Also, from the combined race we saw 2 other medallists': Ken Daniel making his return (?) to competitive racing, finishing 2nd (24.26) in the M70 category plus a strong run from Ashley Pearson 3rd (21.20) in the FV35 section.

The M40 event was, as always, an exciting race, with Kent taking 1st and 2nd. last year's winner, Micah Evans put in a great shift to finish 6th (28.34) with the 3 others in the M40 team packing closely: Greg Firth (21st - 31.39), Ian Scott (23rd - 31.46), Steve Hough (31st - 32.12). Calculators were brought out to see if this was enough to win 3rd team prize but unfortunately Medway & Maidstone pipped us by just 4 points.

Thanks also to Jason Meers & Maz Turner for turning out on such a cold day!
