Excellence, Colours and Merit Awards 12 November 2017
Held at The Great Hall, Bromley Civic
Centre
See why we
celebrated
The Young Athlete’s Awards took place on Sunday
12th November at The Great Hall, Bromley Civic Centre. Over 200
athletes, parents, club officials, coaches and other guests, including
special guest Dina Asher Smith, gathered together to celebrate another
hugely successful season:
The U13/U15 teams were Kent Young Athlete Champions,
they also finished 2nd in the Southern Premier Division of the YDL and 2nd
in the National Final.
Our U17/U20 Teams won both their League and the YDL
Final with the Junior Women's going on to claim 3rd place in the European
Junior Clubs Final in Brno, Czech Republic.
Next year both Junior teams will be representing GB in
this competition, this we believe is the first time in the history of the
event that one club has achieved this.
Our individual athletes also achieved fantastic
performances with 27 club records being broken in the 2017 season, our
athletes won numerous Excellence, Colours and Merit awards as a result of
winning national, area and county champs, and achieving Grade 1 National
standards, some breaking league records and winning medals in multiple
events in a single championship. Large numbers of our athletes were selected
to compete for their counties during both the winter and summer seasons,
with several being prominent finishers in the London Mini Marathon. During
the summer we had 42 club members going on to represent their schools county
associations at the English Schools Track & Field Championships, with a
fantastic 15 medal winners!
The event itself was a big success; our President Nick
Brooks introduced Dina who gave an inspiring talk that was enjoyed by the
audience. After the awards everyone enjoyed the party afterwards, the photo
booth proved to be very popular! Special thanks to everyone who contributed
