Another tough fixture for us, and once
again with a limited number of athletes too contest it. The Channel Islands
were always going to be the team to beat, and so it was for much of the
afternoon. The throws pairing of Paul and Gordon had a solid afternoon with
help from Jon Green. On the track, the sprinters (Lloyd, Matt, Neil and Jon)
and hurdlers (Mark and Jake) competed well, but such was the standard at this
meeting, we failed to win at any event. Mark Ellison and Chris Huntley looked
after the middle/long distance races and ran well in all. Apart from Jim Day
all other jumpers were makeshift, but still achieved valuable points. Overall,
we scored as well as could be expected and finished third.
