Just ‘quickie’ email to let you know the good news that I won the Kent Cross
Country M50 title over the weekend. I had done some pretty hard training for it,
including some intensive intervals on the bike which almost had me feeling
sick!! But was worried because I had a sore throat two nights before the race on
the Thursday evening, and still felt a bit dizzy, fuzzy and disorientated on the
day, with a bit of a temperature. However I remembered the words of that famous
Saucony sponsored triathlete Lisa Bentley the Canadian who said you race with
the hand of cards you are dealt on the day. In my case it was without any
aces……but with a smallish field (only 40), probably due to the poor weather……..I
was just good enough. Winning in my Saucony Kilkenny’s by 30 seconds or so…..Yipee!!
