The annual boxing Day Paper Chase or Hash took place over
Hayes Common on a fresh morning. The Hares, as usual, led the Hounds a
merry dance via Hayes Farm. Although the Hares saw, and several times heard
the Hounds, they were home and dry ten minutes to the good.
